The Crackle of Ligaments Tearing

Last Saturday, I injured myself playing at the company's volleyball tournament. I sprained my right ankle after executing a block and accidentally landing on my teammate's foot. I felt (maybe even heard) the crackle of ligaments tearing, and as soon as I felt the pain I screamed for help.

There was fortunately the Red Cross team on hand to administer first aid, and my teammates and the players from the other team were all very helpful and comforting. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life and I was glad to have friends and teammates with me who were very encouraging.

They eventually won the game and earned for us the 2nd runner up trophy.

The doctor said there were no fractures, thank God. Now I am nursing a swollen right ankle. Hopefully, I would be able to get back to work in a couple of days.

In crutches.

First time in my life I will ever go out in crutches. It's kind of exciting and challenging. My horoscope said I will be very creative today and will find new ways of doing things. Well, I will definitely need to be creative, especially with the moving about required for normal everyday activities (like going to the bathroom, etc.).

I hope to get better really soon. I don't want to miss work, and I don't want to miss the badminton tournament, which is coming up real soon.

Plus, I'd like to get back on track with my weight loss program. October is my deadline to lose 40 pounds, and so far, I've lost about 5 pounds only. There is a lot of work to do and so little time to do all of it.

The Chronicler's Creed

Where there's water and sun, where there are friends to see or new people to meet, where there's something new to learn, experience, or do, where there's life, there I will be.

LA POESÍA

Y fue a esa edad... Llegó la poesía
a buscarme. No sé, no sé de dónde
salió, de invierno o río.
No sé cómo ni cuándo,
no, no eran voces, no eran
palabras, ni silencio,
pero desde una calle me llamaba,
desde las ramas de la noche,
de pronto entre los otros,
entre fuegos violentos
o regresando solo,
allí estaba sin rostro
y me tocaba.

And it was at that age... Poetry arrived
in search of me. I do not know, I do not know where
it came from, from winter or a river.
I do not know how or when,
no, they were not voices, they were not
words, nor silence,
but from a street I was summoned,
from the branches of night,
abruptly from the others,
among violent fires
or returning alone,
there I was without a face
and it touched me.
