Slow Dance

You looked up at me
With eyes that mirrored
The painful reality
Of what was to be

Tears of bitterness
Were waiting to fall
And I was there waiting
To catch them all

Then our music started playing
It was the first song of the evening
But we both knew what was true
It was the anthem of an ending long overdue

How can we dance and then pretend
Follow the music that leads to the end
How do we embrace and say we didn’t try
How do we dance the slow dance of goodbye

Locked in a dance
We were in a trance
Spoke of love so pure
But the future was sure

When the first tear fell
Your pain I felt
I could no longer keep in step
So I held you and wept

Then our music started playing
It was the first song of the evening
But we both knew what was true
It was the anthem of an ending long overdue

How can we dance and then pretend
Follow the music that leads to the end
How do we embrace and say we didn’t try
How do we dance the slow dance of goodbye

If this is really the end
For the last time let me hold your hand
Let’s let this final moment stand
And love while we still can

How can we dance and then pretend
Follow the music that leads to the end
How do we embrace and say we didn’t try
How do we dance the slow dance of goodbye

Drift (Recorded)

Recently learned that the one for whom I wrote this song has broken up with the guy he ended up with. Now he's with someone else.

Sigh.

It's the turn of the year
I see everything clear
Got a new job at a new place
Ready now to run the race

Packed my bags and said goodbye
To all the ones that passed me by
Everything fresh, everything new
It's all too good to be true

I face the road ahead
With much ado 'bout nothing
But the truth is I am running
Running away from you

Running away from you, oh woooh
Running away from you, oh woooh

Looked back at the pier
As mem'ries disappear
Of the love that I once knew
Farther away from you

Now I reach the shores of promise
But something's still amiss
Not everything fresh, not everything new
It's not complete without you

I face the road ahead
With much ado 'bout nothing
But the truth is I am running
Running away from you

Running away from you, oh woooh
Running away from you, oh woooh

I have crossed the seas and oceans blue
Only to find my heart...

Drifting back to you, oh woooh
Drifting back to you, oh woooh
Drifting back to you, oh woooh
Drifting back to you

First Light (Recorded)

This song was written for our dearest Prue, who is now in hiatus. I think this is going to be the first time for him to hear it. Forgive the off-key singing. I recorded this at home in the wee hours of the morning. Prue, I hope you like it.

Here I lie on the sand
Hazy blue skies above
Morning’s soon to dawn
And will bring my love home

I stand on the promise
That one day you will come
Oh, angel of my life, alight
With the morning sun

Now I know I will never be alone
And they will know that our love will be that strong
Because with every waking dawn
Your warm embrace will come along
Because the sunrise brings my angel home

You’re as real as my thoughts
And feel as warm as the sun
When your wings take flight
With the coming of the light

I stand on the promise
That one day you will come
Oh, angel of my life, alight
With the morning sun

Now I know I will never be alone
And they will know that our love will be that strong
Because with every waking dawn
Your warm embrace will come along
Because the sunrise brings my angel home

And now reality sets in
Your presence slowly growing thin
So I live through the day, and head out again at night
So I could wait for first light

Now I know I will never be alone
And they will know that our love will be that strong
Because with every waking dawn
Your warm embrace will come along
Because the sunrise brings my angel home

Through

I know how hard it's been
How things can be so grim
How dark the clouds can turn
And the lessons hard to learn

Life can be so cruel
It can turn you into a fool
I know this much is true
'Cause I was there with you

So don't cry again
Don't shed no more tears
Because home is now
And home is here

You are never alone
Because I'm there with you
Feeling the sadness you do
I’m crying there with you
But this I promise you
Together, we’ll get through

But it never ends the same
No one’s really to blame
We each live our own
But you are never alone

Let’s leave the past behind
We can make up our minds
Look up it’s a new day
Hope is coming your way

So don't cry again
Don't shed no more tears
Because home is now
And home is here

You are never alone
Because I'm there with you
Feeling the sadness you do
I’m crying there with you
But this I promise you
Together, we’ll get through

Together, we’ll get through

So don't cry again
Don't shed no more tears
Because home is now
And home is here

You are never alone
Because I'm there with you
Feeling the sadness you do
I’m crying there with you
But this I promise you
Together, we’ll get
Through

Going SomeWHERE

Found myself an audio editing program online and recorded Kokum's Where last night. I hope you like it.

Who is Kokum?

As I have previously posted, Evie and I had planned on sending an audition video to The Amazing Race Asia Season 3. Well, we did. Evie re-edited the video and came up with this. So for those who want to know who Kokum is, this video is for you.

Just Had To

Found this picture in Evie's treasure trove of photos. Taken in Boracay by my main man, El Cid Tirol.

Just had to post it. For my ego. Hahaha!

And for Paige, so she won't say I've gone nowhere.

Where

Where the wind blows freely
Where waves and sand touch endlessly
Where the sky meets tenderly
The sea

Where dark blue skies cover me
And sand warms me
Where the stars wink at me
Naughtily

Where I am who I am really
Where truth is truth
Constantly
Where I can see eternity
Beckoning me
To be free

Where a soft breeze carries me
Where imagination takes me
Where I’m finally free
To be

Where I can’t pretend to be
Any more than me
Where the truth let’s me see
Inwardly

Where I am who I am really
Where truth is truth
Constantly
Where I can see eternity
Beckoning me
To be free

Where I can see my reflection
Clearly in the glassy sea
Where comfort comes soothingly
From the sound of sea

Where I am who I am really
Where truth is truth
Constantly
Where I can see eternity
Beckoning me
To be free

The Chronicler's Creed

Where there's water and sun, where there are friends to see or new people to meet, where there's something new to learn, experience, or do, where there's life, there I will be.

LA POESÍA

Y fue a esa edad... Llegó la poesía
a buscarme. No sé, no sé de dónde
salió, de invierno o río.
No sé cómo ni cuándo,
no, no eran voces, no eran
palabras, ni silencio,
pero desde una calle me llamaba,
desde las ramas de la noche,
de pronto entre los otros,
entre fuegos violentos
o regresando solo,
allí estaba sin rostro
y me tocaba.

And it was at that age... Poetry arrived
in search of me. I do not know, I do not know where
it came from, from winter or a river.
I do not know how or when,
no, they were not voices, they were not
words, nor silence,
but from a street I was summoned,
from the branches of night,
abruptly from the others,
among violent fires
or returning alone,
there I was without a face
and it touched me.
