Grind

Performed by Brownbuds
Music by Milo Miranda
Words and melodies by Glenn Ala

There's a buzz in my ear as the lights slowly dim
I can hear people sing to the music in my dream
Oh the beat brings me up to a high where I've never been
And your dancing and grinding are making my head spin

Grind, baby, grind, baby
Come on and shake your body
Grind, baby, grind, baby
Come over let's get busy

I can see how you love how I sing close to your ear
How our sweat drip and mix when we touch skin to skin
And I feel your blood pumping with your body gyrating
So come closer and open the door to let me in

Grind, baby, grind, baby
Come on and shake your body
Grind, baby, grind, baby
Come over let's get busy

The room is full and the night so young
You're too beautiful, that's just fine
Swing to my song let me take you home
Grind, baby, grind, come on!

Grind, baby, grind, baby
Come on and shake your body
Grind, baby, grind, baby
Come over let's get busy

Tonight I Turn 35

Tonight, I turn 35. And tonight, I celebrate 35 years of life, love, and change with real happiness in my heart. As most of my friends know, I've made a career out of being happy. Happiness to me is a mindset and a lifestyle, and I thank God for teaching me the discipline of happiness and for giving me the opportunity to share it with family, friends, and the people I work with and meet every day.

So here's to more happy years for me, and many more years of spreading the discipline of happiness, and the joy of living, loving, and changing. Cheers!

An Unfinished Song Written by Two Formerly Lonely Friends

Why open doors to let the hurt in?
Why let doubt and confusion set in?
Why give love a chance to rule your world?
Why let love? Why let love?

Is there nothing behind the veil?
No happy endings, nothing to gain?
A room full of promises
Is empty when there is pain.

Love comes knocking on your door
And sells you nothing new
But there’s no sale to be made.
And then there was you.

With love there are no locks,
So the doors are always open.
No veil, so love could see through
And the room – filled by me and you
In a dance, with a glance
Love always deserves a chance.

- Written by Glenn Ala and in part by Jay Redondo, on one of those nights

Found this in my email. Transcript by Jay of an exchange of text messages on one of those sad drinking nights. It just seems appropriate to post this now, especially since both of us have found our own loves within weeks from each other. I feel a song coming.

LSS

NEW SONG ALERT!
NEW SONG ALERT!
NEW SONG ALERT!
Hehehe. This one's called LSS.
As is my usual disclaimer, please forgive the crude playing and singing.

LSS (Last Song Syndrome)

Ladadaradada... dadadaradaradarararara...

Ginising mo’ng nanahimik kong puso
pinukaw ang damdamin kong
nagmistulang bato

Pinanabik ako sa himig na inawit
sa gabing pinaningning
nitong mga bituin

Ikaw ang laging laman ng isip
ang LSS na laging inaawit
ikaw ang tonong sa puso’y nakaukit
ang himig na dala hanggang panaginip

Ladadaradada... dadadaradaradarararara...

Singtamis nga ba ng tinig mong malamig
ang pag-ibig na hatid
anong kaba nitong dibdib!

Ang bawat himig at salitang nagmumula
sa ‘yong bibig nagbibigay init
sa gabing malamig

Ikaw ang laging laman ng isip
ang LSS na laging inaawit
ikaw ang tonong sa puso’y nakaukit
ang himig na dala hanggang panaginip

Ladadaradada... dadadaradaradarararara...

Kahit di ko aminin
kaysarap ulit-ulitin
dahil ang tinig mo
tanging ang himig mo
ang naririnig ng puso ko

Ladadaradada... dadadaradaradarararara...

- completed today, July 6th, for Vincent

My Eyes on You

The Chronicler's Creed

Where there's water and sun, where there are friends to see or new people to meet, where there's something new to learn, experience, or do, where there's life, there I will be.

LA POESÍA

Y fue a esa edad... Llegó la poesía
a buscarme. No sé, no sé de dónde
salió, de invierno o río.
No sé cómo ni cuándo,
no, no eran voces, no eran
palabras, ni silencio,
pero desde una calle me llamaba,
desde las ramas de la noche,
de pronto entre los otros,
entre fuegos violentos
o regresando solo,
allí estaba sin rostro
y me tocaba.

And it was at that age... Poetry arrived
in search of me. I do not know, I do not know where
it came from, from winter or a river.
I do not know how or when,
no, they were not voices, they were not
words, nor silence,
but from a street I was summoned,
from the branches of night,
abruptly from the others,
among violent fires
or returning alone,
there I was without a face
and it touched me.
