Bakit Kung Kailan

Niyakap nang mahigpit
Sa gabing malamig
Tinuring na akin
‘Di iba sa akin

Minahal ka nang tunay
Lahat sa ‘yo’y inalay
Nakitang nagkamalay
Mundo’y nagkakulay

Pero dahil handa ka nang
Tumayong mag-isa
Ngayon ba’y lilisan na

Ang mga kahapong puno ng saya
Malilimutan na lang ba
Bakit kung kailan mahal na kita
Saka ka mawawala

Paano'ng bukas na
Binuong magkasama
Ngayong ang pangarap mo'y
Iba na

Maiiwan na lang ba
Akong nag-iisa
Binubuhay sa puso
Ating ala-ala

Pero dahil handa ka nang
Abutin ang pangarap
Ngayon ba’y lilisan na

Ang mga kahapong puno ng saya
Malilimutan na lang ba
Bakit kung kailan mahal na kita
Saka ka mawawala

Ang yakap kong mahigpit
Alay na taimtim
Baunin 'tong pag-ibig
Tangan mong init
Sa tuwing malamig

Your Love's A Crime

Hello, old friend, how long has it been
Since we last saw each other's funny grins
Since we last spoke of life and love
And gave each other a friendly shove

From what I see, everything's well
You have found someone, I can tell
It's there in your bright, beaming smile
Let me just catch my breath a while

My heart beats fast, I've seen you at last
I missed you, old friend, but this here now's the end
You've finally found all the love and caring
But you see, it's not my hand you're holding

Did I tell you 'bout the day we met
You unwittingly made me work up a sweat
I had hoped you wouldn't notice it
In love, I was so out of it

You stirred my soul at each encounter
Piqued my interest at each banter
Kept me on my toes for quite some time
You let me love you and that is your crime

My heart beats fast, I've seen you at last
I missed you, old friend, but this here now's the end
You've finally found all the love and caring
But you see, it's not my hand you're holding

This may not be the perfect time to say this
but this ain't something you'd wanna miss
I love you, old friend, I thought you knew
I can love you more than he could ever do

My heart beats fast, I've seen you at last
I missed you, old friend, but this here now's the end
You've finally found all the love and caring
But you see, it's not my hand you're holding

The Chronicler's Creed

LA POESÍA

Y fue a esa edad... Llegó la poesía
a buscarme. No sé, no sé de dónde
salió, de invierno o río.
No sé cómo ni cuándo,
no, no eran voces, no eran
palabras, ni silencio,
pero desde una calle me llamaba,
desde las ramas de la noche,
de pronto entre los otros,
entre fuegos violentos
o regresando solo,
allí estaba sin rostro
y me tocaba.

And it was at that age... Poetry arrived
in search of me. I do not know, I do not know where
it came from, from winter or a river.
I do not know how or when,
no, they were not voices, they were not
words, nor silence,
but from a street I was summoned,
from the branches of night,
abruptly from the others,
among violent fires
or returning alone,
there I was without a face
and it touched me.
